"Chenard Walcker is a French samplecore artist layering large slabs of pop music, obscure funk, soundtracks, etc. The site offers many albums worth of material as free downloads, as an anti-copyright stance. He also publishes the Free Sample Zone, which is all his material under several monikers...." -- official website
Chenard is the prolific visual and musical collage artist who operated the Free Sample Zone netlabel with 50+ releases available for download. When that domain expired, Oddio Overplay created this mirror for the netlabel with the hope that Chenard's work will reach more listeners. |

The Walcker Crew - Emergency Exits [fsz046] (March 7, 2006)
Chenard and his crew got back together for a week-end after one year spent apart. They recorded these 5 songs with one idea in mind : Prevent panic!
As the title suggests it, this album is meant to be played in case of emergency only, with the LOOP mode on. LISTENERS IN THEIR REGULAR STATE ARE STRONGLY ADVICED NOT TO LISTEN TO THIS. So just wait for the right occasion, like a plane-crash, hijacking, or any catastrophe you might experience. It may also be useful in Europe with the probable panic over bird flu outbreak. |

Chenard Walcker - Moo [fsz047] (March 29, 2006)
It all began one manic night in late march 2006... Moo is one of the creepiest, wild pumping thingy cut-and-pasted by Chenard Walcker. This is an album with fuzz guitar riffs, heavy swirling organs, hapsichord, flutes, saxophone, smooth voices, horns, weird synthetizers effects, dissonent pianos, sitar, loud basses and a handful of FAT BEATS!
Though it is a perfect match for the amphetamine and speed culture of the junkies that live in Chenard's neighbourhood in Paris, you won't have to take any drug to enjoy this moosika. You might even shout "MOOOOOOO" as a horny camel. |

Chenard And The Sand - C-Side [fsz048] (May 5, 2006)
The Sand was already working on the C-side when Chenard came by. They first did overdubs on a unfinished cut from the Moo sessions, Butterflying, but soon landed and dived deep into the C for the next three tracks. 'One-Armed' is based on guitar patterns recorded by Geoffroy Vincens.
This is the sound of C. The sound which creates a new dimension. This is a new style of music?!!??# |

Chenard Walcker - Metamorphoses [fsz049] (June 22, 2006)
Two books touched me in my childhood : "Where The Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak and "The Giving Tree" of Shel Silverstein. I had made a track inspired by the first (in the Comfortstand Recordings album Middle), here is a free variation inspired by the second. These two children's books are absolute poetry. |
